Austin-based incubator Capital Factory, is hosting an Entrepreneurship for Programmers training day next Thursday, August 26^th.  The training is part of the Lone Star Ruby Conference at the Norris Conference Center, which continues on Friday and Saturday, and features speakers Tom Preston-Werner of GitHub and Blaze Mizerany of Sinatra.

Capital Factory, a seed stage technology accelerator based in Austin, announced five companies that will participate in the 2010 program this summer. About 200 companies applied for the program, which provides cash, mentorship, and services to those who are selected. The 10-week program culminates in a Demo Day where the companies have the opportunity to showcase their ideas in front of investors and other entrepreneurs.

Next Thursday is the Central Texas Funding Symposium at the Norris Conference Center. One of the interesting things that we discovered during our first year of Capital Factory was that very few companies had a complete founding team. By complete, I mean the founding team had people with both knowledge of their product and industry, and technical skills.

Despite the tumult, however, earlier this year twenty Austin business luminaries pumped $100,000 of their own money into the creation of Capital Factory, an Austin-based technology startup incubator that gives funds and mentorship to the most innovative startups.
