These are exciting times! People have been buzzing about Austin — a city full of innovative companies and new talent and new ideas that embody the zeitgeist of today’s Web — Austin as “the true spirit of the age and its society.” We intend to give Austin a place it can call home.

And if you don’t live here just yet, take note: it’s officially time to “Ditch the Valley, Run for the Hills.”

In September 2009, Austin Startup and Startup District combined forces on the new AustinStartup.com. The goal of the new site is to provide a single and definitive resource for surfacing and navigating the startup ecosystem in Central Texas. We aim to combine excellent editorial reportage with community tools and information sources that further our vision of a united and connected Austin.

AustinStartup.com launched in 2005 by Bryan Mennell, a prominent local entrepreneur, investor, advisor, and community organizer. He currently sits on the board of directors of Moximity, a location based mobile company, and MomentumSI, a systems integrator.

He is also advising a handful of early stage companies including Socialware. Bryan is a Managing Director of Capital Factory.

Startup District is based on the idea that new ventures benefit greatly from the camaraderie and serendipity that a strong community can provide. Startup District is dedicated to realizing our vision in Austin, with the full support of you, our co-conspirators.

Startup District is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to serving the needs of the Austin technology ecosystem. We believe that Austin’s future depends on our ability to meaningfully attract and retain great startups, technologists and entrepreneurs.
