Gowalla Unveils Location Discovery App

In need of some new hangouts for you and your friends? Check out this new Austin startup that offers fun ways to share and discover cool locations.

Gowalla, a web and iPhone application based out of the parent company, Alamofire, recently unveiled their new travel-sharing iPhone app to the public. The application is free and offers a fun, new interpretation of social networking.

Gowalla integrates elastic GPS, Facebook, and Twitter so users can create new locations and share them with friends. For example, say you found a new favorite hangout and want to make a “spot” on Gowalla, let your friends know, and leave behind an item for them to pick up later. Gowalla does just that. Not to mention it also lets you create spots anywhere in the world – check out the company’s first international trip to Nottingham.

The company recently relocated to Austin from Dallas and based on the amount of interesting Austin locations already on the site, we should all be able to find yet another cool spot around town.
