UnboundID, a developer of identity management software for Internet-driven, consumer-facing architectures, today announced the availability of the UnboundID Synchronization Server, which is designed to help Sun customers migrate smoothly to the new UnboundID Directory Services 2.0 architecture. The new UnboundID tool – available at no charge to Sun customers – provides bi-directional synchronization between Sun Directory Server environments and the UnboundID Directory Server. This allows Sun customers to operate their legacy and next-generation directory server environments in parallel until they’re ready to transition over to the new architecture, either in part or in whole.
“Enterprises around the world understand the need to move to an Identity Management platform that can keep up with the scaling requirements of today’s interconnected and highly mobile world,” said Don Bowen, co-founder and VP of Marketing at UnboundID. “The UnboundID Synchronization Server makes it easy for Sun customers to make a smooth transition and manage risk, which is so important when migrating critical services like directories.”
Directory services technology of the last decade was designed for applications serving a closed enterprise. This technology no longer adequately supports today’s popular multi-channel applications that are accessed across web and wireless channels. The UnboundID platform combines the best of a directory server and a relational database into a single identity management architecture that can support today’s high-volume consumer and business applications.
