Blog Musings

We’ve been getting an increasing number of comments here on the blog, which is awesome. I choose not to have to approve every comment that gets posted, and instead implemented a really great CAPTCHA plugin. Despite that I get probably one, sometimes two spam comments per day usually related to gambling, pr0n, or little blue pills. So either some really clever people have figured out how to OCR the CAPTCHA, or there is a real live person copying and pasting the spam text and links into the blog comment. What kind of a job is that?

Have you ever wondered if the CAPTCHA “listen” function could be translated from speech-to-text? I tried listening to the CAPTCHA text once, and it sounded like the voices from Poltergeist or something. It really creeped me out. Bad enough that I double checked the alarm system in the house.

Anyway, the blog needs to freshen up a bit, so please post any suggestions for improvement here. You can’t hurt my feelings, so be candid.

  • Good point! Those other publications do have the advantage of full time writers and paid staff, but let me use that comment to encourage all the technology companies in Austin to submit their news to the editor at the austin startup domain name.

Would love more posts, more frequently. There is a lot going on and collectively we should not be getting scooped by the AAS or Austin Business Journal.
