Fortune magazine release it’s annual list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For. Sure, we expected Google (No. 1) and Starbucks (No. 7) to be on the list. Who wouldn’t like crazy benefits like free meals, free coffee, and Segway’s as status symbols? They are legendary brands after all. But the Container Store (No. 20)? Who knew those highly organized women behind the counter were so happy with their jobs? Or that people in retail (Umpqua Bank, Stew Leonard’s, Nordstrom, Four Seasons) were so content. Which Central Texas companies made the list?
- Methodist Hospital System (No. 10)
- Whole Foods (No. 16)
- David Weekly Homes (No. 17)
- The Container Store (No. 20)
- Shared Technologies (No. 25)
- Rackspace (No. 32)
- TDIndustries (No. 35)
- Camden Property Trust (No. 50)
- Alcon Labs (No. 60)
- EOG Resources (No. 64)
- Valero (No. 67)
- National Instruments (No. 79) and 9th year in a row
- Texas Instruments (No. 100)
Hey, that’s 13% being represented right here at home. W00t!

Interesting title, but the article didn’t live up to it - which two are Austin (based) companies? A little clarity goes a long way.
